The case of Bobbi Kristina Brown is being treated as a criminal investigation, the Roswell Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly in a statement on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
"The Roswell Police has received numerous requests to confirm that the incident involving Bobbi Kristina Brown, from January 31, 2015 in Roswell, Georgia, is now classified as a criminal investigation," the statement read. "The Roswell Police Criminal Investigation Division, who is investigating the incident, conducts criminal investigations. The incident has always been under criminal investigation and has not been reclassified as a criminal investigation."
The statement concluded: "This remains an active investigation and the Roswell Police has no further statement or information to release at this time."
Bobbi Kristina, the only child of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, was discovered facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta home two Saturdays ago. The music scion, 21, was first discovered by her friend Max Lomas, who called 911. Meanwhile, her longtime love Nick Gordon tried to revive her at home and was performing CPR on Bobbi when paramedics arrived, according to police.
As previously reported by Us, while both Brown and Houston families — including grandmother Cissy Houston — have rushed to Bobbi's bedside at Emory, Gordon has not returned. CNN reported this past weekend that he is under investigation as unexplained injuries were found on Bobbi Kristina's body.
Bobbi was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Ga., and was moved on Monday, Feb. 2, to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. She has now remained in a medically induced coma for 11 days since Jan. 31.
While exact details on Bobbi's current condition remain unknown, her family released a statement on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to fans for their prayers and well-wishes. "We support the candlelight vigil for Bobbi Kristina," Bobby Brown's lawyer Christopher Brown told Us Weekly in a statement the day after hundreds attended a candlelight vigil for Bobbi. "The Brown family is amazed by the love and support from all that attended."
The attorney also addressed false reports about Bobbi's situation, especially one on Tuesday which alleged that Bobbi would be taken off life support on the third anniversary of her mother's death on Wednesday, Feb. 11. A Houston family source told Us that the reports were false and there was "no truth to it at all."
The Brown family lawyer further slammed the reports to Us in the most recent statement. "However, the false reports that continue to appear in print and on the Internet are egregious, false, and will be dealt with at an appropriate time," the statement continued. "This is a criminal investigation and the integrity of that process requires silence."
Bobby Brown added a personal touch to the statement, saying: "We continue to request privacy in this matter. We thank everyone that supported the vigil for Bobbi Kristina. God is hearing our prayers."
