Saturday, Aug. 9 marked what would have been the late Whitney Houston's 51st birthday, and no one wanted to honor the special occasion more than the pop icon's daughter Bobbi Kristina.
After dating comedian Eddie Murphy and football star Randall Cunningham, Houston met Bobby at the 1989 Soul Train Awards. Here, they stepped out together at a United Negro College Fund event in March 1990.

In addition to the birthday cake, it looks like Kristina wants to continue honoring her mother throughout the month.
The celebrity spinner, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, died in August 2009 of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 36. The star — who battled drug addictions and had attempted suicide before getting sober more than 10 years ago — survived a tragic plane crash that had left him critically injured.
