Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Final Family Outing Was That Supernormal Breakfast Party (Lots of Pancakes) for the Twins’ Birthday

They’ll always have the short stacks. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s last family outing was for twins Vivienne and Knox’s 8th birthday celebration on July 12. The A-listers, who are divorcing after more than a decade together, brought their youngest children to the Griddle Cafe in West Hollywood for a surprisingly normal celebration.

The By the Sea costars kept a low profile during the outing, but let their kids splurge for their birthdays.

According to a source at the time, the foursome feasted on the “Devil’s Daydream” French Toast (chocolate bread loaded with chocolate chips), the Oreo-filled “Black Magic” pancakes with whipped cream, the honey and cinnamon-flavored “Sow Your Oats” pancakes and a side of eggs.

“They were super nice and friendly,” an eyewitness told Us. “Brad and Angelina were super low-key, and a bunch of the waiters there didn’t even realize it was them until they stood up to leave. They were super chill.”

As previously reported by Us, Jolie filed for divorce from her husband of two years on Monday, September 19. The actress cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking custody of all six children.

“Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage,” Jolie’s rep said in a statement to Us on Tuesday, September 20. “This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”

Us Weekly was first to report that there was serious tension between the couple. As previously reported in June, they were fighting over whether to sell their Château Miraval estate in Correns, France. A source told Us at the time that Pitt wanted to keep the property, but Jolie wanted to sell it as she was “ramping up her efforts in the political world.”

According to a second insider, despite their differences, the pair chose to still celebrate their second wedding anniversary last month at the Beverly Hills Hotel in an attempt to “keep the love alive.”

And while they had been through a rough patch, another source previously told Us that Jolie’s September 19 filing came as a shock to Pitt.

“The final divorce decision was only made one week ago,” the insider explained. “An incident took place and prompted [Angelina] to act and file. … She still says Brad is the love of her life, and the decision has weighed heavy on her heart,” the source added. “Her priority now is the children.”

Despite reports, Pitt’s costar Marion Cotillard didn’t play a role in Brangelina’s demise, according to multiple sources. “Marion was not the reason for the divorce,” another source told Us after the news broke.

The Fight Club actor and Salt star were last photographed out solo together at Gelson’s Market in Los Feliz on July 6.
