Brad Pitt Child Abuse Investigation Extended

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has extended their investigation of Brad Pitt for alleged child abuse, Us Weekly can confirm.

The protective order against the actor, 52, has been extended as investigators look into whether there are additional incidents or a pattern that may suggest a history of abuse that involves more than one of Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s six children.

“They are looking at a history and pattern of behavior,” a source tells Us. “They are looking at not only the original incident but other possible incidents surrounding it and more history.”

According to a legal source, “it’s normal [for the DCFS] to extend past the deadline to complete their work when an agreement exists between the parties.” The insider adds that “it’s standard” and denies the DCFS is looking at additional charges.

As previously reported by Us, the DCFS is investigating Pitt after he allegedly got into a physical altercation with his eldest child, Maddox, while aboard a private plane last month. The incident, an insider previously told Us, was what led Jolie, 41, to file for divorce from the actor after more than a decade together. (A source close to Pitt previously told Us that “the abuse suggestions are inaccurate” and that Pitt is taking the investigation very seriously and is cooperating with authorities.)

The latest news comes after Us exclusively revealed that Maddox refused to attend a monitored visit with Pitt last week along with his five siblings, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

“He chose not to go and stayed with Angie,” a Jolie confidante told Us of the 15-year-old. “It wasn’t full of joy and happiness.”

The original protective order was initially in place until October 20. Jolie, who filed for divorce on September 19, currently has full custody of their kids after the couple singed off on a temporary custody agreement.

As previously reported, a Jolie insider told Us that the actress “is not trying to poison the kids against Brad. … She wants them to have a relationship with him once their health and safety is assured.”
