Bret Michaels says he has nothin' to apologize for about "Nothin' to Lose," his new song featuring Miley Cyrus. In the country-rock ballad that went online Thursday, Cyrus, 17, harmonizes as Michaels, 46, croons about a bad romance: "We both know better than this/Still we can't resist/Slowly get undressed." In the sensual chorus, they sing together: "Won't you fall down on me/So close I can feel you breathe."

In an exclusive interview Friday, Michaels tells UsMagazine.com he's gotten "75 texts" about the scandal that blazed the web late Thursday. "I was like, 'What the f*ck is going on?' Everyone's going nuts!"

"It's blown out of proportion," insists the father of two girls (Raine, 9, and Jorja, 4).

The Rock of Love star and Poison frontman explains that he wrote the song "a couple years ago," and had recorded it solo without Cyrus.

But the Hannah Montana star wanted to remake his gritty classic "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" for her next album, with the elder rocker as her producer. When the teen phenom recorded "Rose" in a New York studio with her mother Tisch standing by, Michaels played them "Nothin' to Lose" during a break.

"[Miley's] like, 'This is an incredible song, it's beautiful. Maybe I could some stuff to it, some harmonies,'" Michaels recounts. "I said, 'That'd be killer!'"

The next thing they knew, the unlikely pair were recording "Nothin'" together. "She was excited that she didn't have to follow any rules," he says of their impromptu jam session.

What about, you know, that "slowly get undressed" stuff? "I never sat down and said, 'Look at the content. Look at the lyrical content,'" Michaels admits.

In his defense, he adds that "the part where it says she slowly gets undressed, Miley says, 'Yeah she does.' It has no reference to her and I. It's not even a duet." He says he got "very positive comments" (no one advised him against it) on the finished track, which will appear on his solo album Custom Built, out in late May.

"As God is my witness, there is nothing I have to be defensive about," he says. "I'm a good Dad. I just thought it was a beautiful song. "

He adds that he and Cyrus are mutual fans of each other. "Her first concert ever was Poison. Now I take my kids and they go see her play. It's awesome!"

There's definitely something seriously wrong with Miley's parents.

How can a song with an old man and a kid singing we know better than this but we can't resist be beautiful? Give me a break!

Ugh, this guy will do anything for 15 more minutes. Now that his reality show is fading he has to grab onto something else to drag out his fame. Let it go man.

She's so freagin ugly and her voice is so annoying when she speaks. Horse face loser that sings with old perverted men. Her parents are fools as well trying to pimp out all their children.

I wonder what made her want to be a little tramp? I read that her parents let her boyfriend live with them because they'd rather have it under their roofs. Everyone I know is starting to hate her and why is she always trying to post those semi nude pics of herself online etc. I think we all know why.....she's a whor

this guy is weird and Miley is no innocent by any stretch. She will lose her fan base before long because she is not interesting, not cute, fake, and has an ego that would drive anyone insane to be around for too long. I wonder how she gets boyfriends, unless they are super wimps.

  • February 28, 2010 - 5:50pm Joanne

THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY IS TRASH AND THIS SONG IS GARBAGE.

  • February 28, 2010 - 5:18pm Mary

People need to get a life !!!! Its a beautiful song. Why is there always someone that has to tear it all apart & depict it with their own sick version of what the song means !? Leave Brett & Miley alone.

Yeah where did decency go? If my teen daughter pulled this then I'd tear up her phone and camera. These star's kids are spoiled brats and most have no morals. I watch my kids and they listen to me. They've always made good grades and never been into any of this and I do know what they do. I heard her dad take up for her on some of the things she did that just were not right and singing with this man is one of them. She isn't old enough to know a lot of things so he should use some better judgement but then he may approve. But I think he's wrong.

It's disturbing that a lot of young women today put nude pics and videos of themselves online. I saw a teen on tv that was arrested and charged to many years in prison for it so watch what you do kids. It might be the "cool" thing to do these things but it's not really cool. These guys you are sending stuff to aren't worth a shat anyway if they want you to do it. If you want to do it yourself then you are nothin but a little ho.

Don't foget the brother dresses in all black and looks like a vampire.

  • February 28, 2010 - 4:05pm amy

This LITTLE GIRL was on a STRIPPER POLE in front of other very young girls that look up to her. Her parents supported that. Look at how she dressed when preforming for the queen, seriously practically flashing her privates. The naughty pics that ended up on the internet that Miley took of herself in her underwear, so gross and so wrong! Dating a 21 yr old at 16. Comon folks this song is nothing compared to the other stuff but it does play into this whole lolita/pedophile thing she has had going on for a long time! This LITTLE GIRL has it all wrong because all that matters to her and her family is $$$$. Now look at her little sister, dressing like some 21yr old looking for a good time @ a club. She's the next cash cow for a family of pigs.

I'd be afraid to catch std's just standing next to Brett.

  • February 28, 2010 - 1:15pm Richard

This is a story that the media decided to twist around into something sick. It's a just a song. Isn't he banging Miley's mom Tish Cyrus anyway? Richard
