Now that she’s unemployed, Heidi Montag has been forced to live within her means.
Months after Montag, 26, and her husband, Spencer Pratt, 29, spoke to Us Weekly about their financial woes, the Colorado native opened up to Access Hollywood Live about the importance of being frugal.
“I’ve never really counted, so I’m not sure [how much we lost],” she said October 18. “Over a million or so.”
When asked if she missed being on a reality show, Montag responded, “I only miss the money. If we would have saved our money, it would have been better.”
The spouses of three years currently live with Pratt’s parents to save money while the Hills villain gets his political science degree from the University of Southern California. “A lot of our expenses are minimized,” she explained.
Lauren Conrad‘s ex-BFF admitted she lost sight of her true self during her five and a half seasons on MTV’s The Hills. “We both just kind of stepped back and have been able to reflect on who we’ve been, where we want to go and who want to be and what we want in our lives,” Montag said. “And it wasn’t the path we were going down. So we just kind of changed back to who we originally were.”
Montag, who famously underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day in 2010, added, “We’re very grounded and humbled and money and fame and the fast life — you don’t really know how you’re going to react to it. I certainly never thought I would become the person that I was.”
