Busy, but not complaining! Busy Philipps sounded off on Gwyneth Paltrow's controversial remarks that Hollywood moms have tougher schedules than normal working mothers. Although the Cougar Town star didn't necessarily criticize Paltrow for her opinion, she did laugh at the idea that it's hard to juggle both an acting career and raising children.
"I've said this from the beginning because I genuinely believe this — that in terms of being a working mom I've got it made," Philipps, 34, said during a HuffPost Live appearance on Thursday, May 29.
"I'm on a TV show where my hiatus is their [her kids] summer so I'm free to be with them in the summer time. I'm able to afford full-time help because of what I do," she added. "My husband also works, and my nanny makes my life doable and so easy." (Philipps and screenwriter husband Marc Silverstein are parents to daughters Birdie, 5 1/2, and Cricket, 8 months.)
"I have nothing to complain about," Philipps insisted. "Obviously all moms have their push and their pull and their mommy guilt and 'I missed the school play because I'm shooting.' Okay, my friend missed the school play because she's a lawyer and was in court. We all have that and that's a common thread."
For the Dawson's Creek alum, thinking about how hard it is to raise children in the industry is actually laughable—literally. "I don't ever feel like I have to stop myself from complaining about how hard it is to be an actress," she added with a chuckle. "I mean, it's not that hard." Click
As for 41-year-old Paltrow, (who shares daughter Apple, 10, and son Moses, 8, with estranged husband Chris Martin) Philipps just can't relate. "God bless her, she really just says what she feels," Philipps said of Paltrow. "That's her reality. That's her truth, it's just not mine. I have a different reality and a different truth."
