The day after Corey Haim's family solicited donations from the late actor's fans to fund his burial, a Minnesota-based celebrity memorabilia Web site has announced they will provide $20,000 to cover the costs.

A representative from Startifacts confirms to UsMagazine.com that the company will donate proceeds from their Haim-related auctions to help defray burial costs, including the purchase of a headstone and transporting his body to his native Toronto.

Rather than wait until the auction items are sold, Startifacts will present the actor's family a check next week at his funeral.

Haim died Wednesday at age 38.

Though his mother Judy has said he suffered pulmonary congestion, L.A. County Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter tells Us: "We did an autopsy. We gave his mother some preliminary findings but it does not mean it is the final cause of death. The final cause of death is pending toxicology and other reports. We did discuss issues involving his heart and lungs. We are not going to comment on specifics until the final results come back. It could be up to six weeks."

Look back at the talented actor's life in pictures.

On Friday, California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown, Jr., said his office is investigating an "illegal and massive prescription-drug ring" linked to the actor's death.

An unauthorized prescription under Haim's name was found while Brown's office was looking into fake prescription pads, believed to originate in San Diego.

"Corey Haim's death is yet another tragedy linked to the growing problem of prescription-drug abuse," Brown told Us in a statement. "This problem is increasingly linked to criminal organizations...It's a serious public health problem."

Omg people are so dumb on this site. @ PMG....Do you realize how much funerals cost? And who said Corey's mom was or wasn't getting free health care? And just for the record...Our health care isn't "free"! It's great but not "FREE"! Show's just how much you know! LOL! :D

  • March 15, 2010 - 10:32pm BabyJawz

We do have a good health care system here,I think why they need so much money is because they have to fly him back to here and then pay for the funeral. Air Fair costs money its not free to send someones body to a different country!

  • March 15, 2010 - 8:50pm pmg

Why isn't his mother getting her cancer treatment for free in Canada's supposedly wonderful national health care system?

  • March 15, 2010 - 8:39pm pmg

Was he royalty? Why does he need a $20,000 funeral?

  • March 15, 2010 - 2:58pm Jack's mom

I guess I'm a little surprised that the other Corey didn't pitch in? I thought he said that was his brother?

  • March 15, 2010 - 10:03am Jenii84

@Anon Corey's mother has cancer...Okay...So if she borrowed the money to pay for Corey's funeral and she died from her own illness...Who would pay the loan back? Don't be so dumb!

Now I find this sad that I have to pretty much post this same comment once again, like I had to on one of the other articles about Corey Haim. So in response to SUFFERNOFOOLS...Wow you are quite the character aren't you? :) What kind of a person says the things you say? "Pukey Canadian Moochers"? Riiigghhht! LOL! I am Canadian and I think your comments are mean & untrue! I mean how can you say that? You obviously know nothing about Canadians to even say something like that! I also take it you're American!? :) Since some of you want to put Canada down I'm going to put Canada back up! Canada is the best country in the world to live in and anyone saying otherwise is in complete denial or has never visited my country. A lot of great actors/actresses came from Canada! Also...We have the best educated people, highest literacy in the world, we have the healthiest people, our life expectancy is higher meaning we live longer than anyone on the planet except for people in Ja.pan and Iceland, we were named #1 friendliest country for many, many years, we have low crime rates, and we rocked it at the Olympics and we are generally just friendly, honest, generous, peaceful, compassionate people who are not money hungry like America. Canada is also at the top of the list for countries people would most like to live which has been ranked by the G-8 nations! Just stating the facts! ;) I'm also proud to say that Corey Haim is from Canada. RIP COREY HAIM!

@AsianMLovesWhiteF Funny you say "Go find something worthwile to do for your community instead of sitting on your fat sorry posteriors in front of your boobscreen". Don't you post negative comments on just about EVERY ARTICLE EVERY SINGLE DAY? Bahahaha!!! Take your own advice bud! ;) And stop with all of the negativity 24/7 you ugly creep!

gee, sheryl, sooooo soorrrrryyyy i upset your delicate amerikun sensitivites, but that's my opinion and i'm allowed to have it, no matter if your lil ole self likes it or not. and am allowed to still express it here in america, too, far as i know, until your type of 'we can only write nice things, no dissenting opinion allowed' change the rules and regs. oh, by the way, i do believe AsianMLovesWhiteF was talking to you in his comment, since everyone sees your idiotic name on these pages all the time. screw off, and go stick your nasty fat middle finger up your nasty fat backside, then lick it off, twit.

Wah! Wah! Wah! Wah! You fools who are crying and moaning over a dead deadbeat need to go find some kind of a life away from your computer. Do you think any of these people in US mag would bother to read about you if you were put into a magazine or on the 'net? Do you think they know you even exist? The only time any of these so called 'famous' people even have a glimmer of a thought about the common person is when they're looking at their bank balance. Go find something worthwhile to do for your community instead of sitting on your fat sorry posteriors in front of your boob-screen.

boohooboohooboohooboohooboohoo. hey, sheryl, go shove it up your big american azz

  • March 14, 2010 - 9:40pm Sheryl

To "suffernofools". You are a piece of work. Why would you put down Canadians? Do you like reading the garbage you are writing? Does it make you feel big and proud? YOU ARE AN IGNORANT MORON LOW LIFE PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!!!!! How's that from one American to another? Now you know what Americans think of you and I put it in writing so that you would be sure to read it.

While I don't agree with the family asking for donations I can understand why they would. A better way to go would have been to have the fans set up a site for donations and then send the money to the family. What's the big deal with this website donating money? Nobody asked the company to do this, they're offering to do it! Corey's mom has probably used all the money she had just to pay for her cancer treatments and medications. It may not be the best way to get money but at least she will be able to lay her son to rest

  • March 14, 2010 - 2:43pm BabyJawz

To suffernofools you are a ignorant person. It hasnt been said yet if he died of an overdose. So wait till the facts are on the table before you go running your mouth. He was a great actor. It seems to me that you are not Canadian so thats prob why you are running your mouth. I bet if that was one of your family members and you were broke I dont think you would want them put in a garbage can or bury them in a backyard.

  • March 14, 2010 - 2:07pm absolutely crazy

My grandmother was very poor. Her children are all poor. All of the grandchildren are poor. And we still didn't go begging for handouts for her funeral. 20k for a funeral? get over yourself peoples. If they didn't have the money to bury him then they should have went with a cheaper funeral. Its not like he's seeing his funeral anyway. People need to stop living a life of luxury if they can't afford it. Just plain and simple. 20k for a funeral is extravagant and wasteful. They should have went with a 5-6k funeral and said "give the rest to charity or towards Haiti relief"

  • March 14, 2010 - 1:28pm 123

I agree with suffernofools, they would have come up with the money one way or another. They shouldn't be asking for a handout for A FUNERAL!!! Sickening. What funeral costs 20K anyway, half must be for her!

  • March 14, 2010 - 12:23pm J

Thats nice of them to do that for him. At least now their family can have a nice funeral for him. This is so sad.

  • March 14, 2010 - 10:17am suffernofools

someone give 'em some cheese with that whine. what would the family had done with corey's body had no one bought their whining poor-old-us-we-have-no-money shtick? dump him in a garbage can? bury him in the backyard? please! they would have had to do what other regular, normal, non-substance-abusing people do: borrow the money or work with what they have. pukey canadian moochers.

  • March 14, 2010 - 10:01am Carrie

I wonder how much usweekly has donated to this... especially after using so many stories about Corey Haim in their publication.

  • March 14, 2010 - 1:27am Bonnie

Startafacts is doing a great thing and it has to be a HUGE comfort to Corey's ill mother and family... to know that Corey will be buried and taken care of the way any family would want for a loved one. God bless.
