Here come the brides!
From Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey's three-day extravaganza in June to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's Italian nuptials in October, 2012 was a year of big "I dos" and long-awaited happily-ever-afters for some of Hollywood's hottest couples. Also among the A-list newlyweds? Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman.
Wedding bells rang for Timberlake, 31, and Biel, 30, on Oct. 19, when the two swapped vows after five years of dating during an emotional ceremony at the Borgo Egnazia hotel in Southern Italy. Joined by 150 of their closest friends and family — including music producer Timbaland, SNL's Andy Samberg, and the groom's former *NSYNC bandmates JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick — the lovebirds of five years celebrated their marriage with a week-long getaway culminating in a party deejayed by Roots drummer ?uestlove. At one point during the reception, the "Sexyback" singer even serenaded his bride with a never-before-heard song.
Biel eschewed traditional white for her big day, choosing instead to walk down the aisle in a pink-tinged Giambattista Valli-designed gown with a "princess-like silhouette." After the lavish bash, she and her husband escaped to Tanzania for a wild honeymoon safari.
Matthew McConaughey, 42, and Camila Alves, 30, stayed closer to home for their three-day wedding, tying the knot in Austin on June 10 in front of about 100 guests, including Woody Harrelson and Richard Linklater. Together six years, the couple have two children together, Levi, 3, and Vida, 2, with a third on the way.
"There were about 100 of his close friends and family there," one wedding guest told Us of the "high-end," campout-themed soiree. "[The ceremony] was very emotional. There was a moment when…[Matthew] leaned down and whispered something in [Camila's] ear and you could see a tear coming down her face. Everyone let out a collective sigh."
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's surprise nuptials in September were similarly emotional. After less than a year of dating, the Green Lantern co-stars made their love official with an ultra-private, ultra-romantic ceremony at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, S.C. — the same place where The Notebook was filmed in 2004.
For the wedding — attended by Martha Stewart and Lively's Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, and Alexis Bledel — the Gossip Girl star wore a Marchesa gown adorned with crystal and rose-gold embroidery, complemented by a bouquet of "pink jasmine, andromeda, dusty miller, and blushing bride hydrangea…[and] dipped select petals in subtle rose-gold glitter," according to Martha Stewart Weddings, who helped create their special day.
Fellow September bride Anne Hathaway, 29, chose Valentino for her big walk down the aisle when she married actor and jewelry designer Adam Shulman, 31, in a sunset ceremony in Big Sur, Calif.
"They seemed incredibly happy and in love," an eyewitness told Us of the couple, who began dating in 2008. "They were posing for pictures after the wedding and seemed giddy and on an adrenaline high. At one point, they had a moment to themselves and they just looked at each other for a long time and then kissed."
