Celine Dion Resurfaces Following Husband René Angélil’s and Brother Daniel’s Deaths

Her heart will go on. Celine Dion was spotted on Wednesday, January 20, for the first time since the deaths of her husband, René Angélil, and brother Daniel Dion, just days apart. The “Power of Love” singer, clad in all black, was seen boarding a private plane with her three children at a Las Vegas airport.

Dion — along with her kids René-Charles, 14, and twin boys Nelson and Eddy, 5, who she shared with Angélil — were en route to Montreal, where her husband’s memorial service will be held at Notre-Dame Basilica on Friday, January 22. Dion and Angélil married at the basilica in 1994.

As previously reported, Angélil died at the age of 73 on January 14 after battling throat cancer for years. Two days later, Dion’s brother Daniel, 59, died of cancer.

Despite reports, the Grammy-winning artist is not planning on singing at her husband’s funeral. According to Dion’s rep, one or two of her songs may be played in the background. Dion greeted mourners at Angélil’s wake on Thursday at the basilica, which was live-streamed online.

Angélil, who discovered Dion when she was just 12 years old, previously worked as a singer before turning to management. The two made their business relationship a romantic one in 1987, and went on their first official date when Dion was 19 years old.
