Pretty, pretty Pine! Chris Pine made everyone swoon when he was caught crying at the 2015 Oscars in February — looking oh so adorable while doing so. The hunky star dropped by The Late Late Show to chat with his Into the Woods costar James Corden about the moment, and how his pals reacted to it.
“Chris, you were also at the Academy Awards this year. We’ve got a picture of you here. You seem to be crying,” Corden said to Pine, who sat next to fellow guest Patricia Arquette. “You seem to be crying almost throughout the whole ceremony. Patricia won one—you know that, right?”
Pine, 34, quickly got the giggles when Corden pulled out the snapshot of him crying. At the time, the Star Trek 3 actor and Selma’s David Oyelowo were emotional because of Common and John Legend’s powerful “Glory” performance.
“What’s annoying is, when I cry — I mean, I don’t look great in the best of times,” Corden continued. “When I cry I look disgusting. Look at this! Have you ever seen anyone look so handsome whilst they’re crying?”
Pine shed a single tear at the star-studded event, but explained that not everyone gushed about it afterward. “It was a wonderful performance and it was really moving. And a lot of people gave me a lot of crap for it — a single tear,” he said, laughing.
He added: “I would say as an actor, [that’s] the only time in my life that I think I will be able to produce a single tear down my face.”
