Breaking News: Christina Aguilera Files for Divorce

Two days after UsMagazine.com broke the news that Christina Aguilera has separated from husband Jordan Bratman, the singer, 29, has filed for divorce.
Citing "irreconcilable differences," she filed papers Thursday, TMZ reports. She lists the date of separation as September 11, 2010.

According to papers, the two had a prenup.
The divorce petition asks that "Earnings and accumulations of [Aguilera] before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation" be considered separate property.
The petition also seeks to terminate Bratman's ability to get child support.

Aguilera is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their child, Max, who is 2.
She is being represented by Laura Wasser.
"Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever," she told Us Tuesday in a statement.

@Allison- completely agree! they were my fave couple so solid and stable unlike all these other couples who are breaking up one after the other and this just really shocked me!!! doesnt anyone stay together for the long haul??
i guess this is the big one. u know i was w/my ex for 12 yrs but da last 2 yrs were just miserable, we were more like friends then a couple. it does happen.

Wow! This is one couple that shocks me. So true that you never know what goes on behind closed doors. Rumor is she cheated. I have no idea if this is accurate. Christina is one of the few that seems to have a good head on her shoulders. No drugs, arrests or problems whatsoever. Very sad.
wow after 5yrs of marraige they are calling it quits doesnt anybody take there vows seriously anymore through better or worse! what a total copout whats the point in people getting married if all they are going to do is end up being another statistic in society i feel sorry for there child there most of all
