As previously reported, Loibl walked up to Grimmie and shot her as she was signing autographs with the band Before You Exit following a concert on Friday night. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition but died shortly afterward.

Police stated early Saturday that the suspect appeared to be a “deranged fan” and noted that there was “no indication” that he knew the singer personally.

WFTV reporter Karla Ray posted a pic on Twitter on Saturday of a note pinned to the door of Loibl’s family home in St. Petersburg, Florida. “Deepest sorrow for lost to the family, friends & fans of the very talented Christina Grimmie,” the note read. “No other comments.”
