Rye’s eyes say it all. Political commentator Angela Rye gave the sassiest eye roll ever to a fellow CNN panelist who was praising Donald Trump, and it’s now been dubbed “the eye roll heard ’round the world.”

While discussing Hillary Clinton’s historic nomination as the first female presidential candidate of a major party on CNN Tonight in the early hours of Wednesday, July 27, Rye’s eyes basically went into the back of her head as Kayleigh McEnany bashed the former first lady and listed off Trump’s accomplishments.

“I love that we have facts like Libya in disarray, Iraq in disarray, Syria in disarray, all under the tutelage of Hillary Clinton’s State Department. So, if she’s a change-maker, yes, it’s change for the worst,” McEnany said of Bill Clinton calling the former secretary a state “the best darn change-maker I’ve ever met” during his Democratic National Convention speech.

Rye just couldn’t contain her annoyance, and it only got worse when host Don Lemon asked the conservative correspondent what she thought of Bill mentioning Hillary’s work with schools and adoptive parents.

“Well, that’s great,” McEnany said. “You know, Donald Trump has done great things in his private time, too, for veterans, all across his foundation. He’s done great things, too. We’ve all done great things in our lives and I commend her for helping children, that’s a commendable thing.”

The 20-seconds of extreme eye-rolling quickly went viral on social media. Many tweeters applauded it as summing up everyone’s feelings about the former Apprentice star, while others said she needs to work on her poker face.

Rye later explained her epic reaction to New York Magazine’s The Cut. “For me, yesterday, it was such a historic moment. Regardless of whether you’re with Hill or you’re feeling the Bern, we had to appreciate the magnitude of that moment,” she said. “To switch gears from shattering glass ceilings from Michelle Obama’s dynamic speech to Cory Booker to Eric Holder the night before, to then talk about ISIS? Are we really doing this right now?”

However, Rye said that behind-the-scenes, she and McEnany put their differences aside. “I think she knows that normally I don’t agree with her,” Rye told The Cut. “Kayleigh is someone I consider a friend; we get along very well off air. And I absolutely believe that Kayleigh wholeheartedly believes the things she says.”
