The divorce petition was mutual.
When David Arquette filed for divorce from Courteney Cox Arquette last Friday, she did the same. According to new legal documents, Cox also filed a petition citing "irreconcilable differences.
Like Arquette, she represented herself and is asking for joint physical and legal custody of their daughter, Coco, who turned 8 on Wednesday.
However, the Cougar Town actress is also seeking to legally drop her husband's name and have it be restored to Courteney Cox.
Arquette, 40, and Cox, 47, would have celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on Tuesday. The couple first announced their separation in October 2010 and have remained amicable since then.
"Our relationship is probably better than it would be if we lived together," Cox told Howard Stern on his Sirius-XM radio show in 2011. "It's definitely better than it used to be. We communicate better, we have much more respect for each other, we listen. It's hard."
And the day after they filed their papers, Cox put on a big smile and attended the Vintage Hollywood Fundraiser Saturday at Arquette's home in Beverly Hills.
