Courtney Stodden decided to shave her head over the weekend, three weeks after announcing that she suffered a miscarriage. The “Reality” singer documented the process via Instagram Monday, August 8. Watch her emotional message to fans in the video above.

“Hi everyone. As you all know, I recently suffered a miscarriage and it’s had a huge impact on me emotionally,” Stodden, 21, shared in a video. “I’ve been thinking and I have decided that I want to give back to my angel with a symbolic gesture, and that to me is shaving my hair off. I want to step into this new chapter in my life fresh and with a new … so I wanted to share it with you because you’re a huge support system to me and I love all of you so much.”
Three hours later, Stodden posted a photo of her new buzz cut while wearing a leopard-print bikini. “New chapter,” she captioned the snapshot. In a second pic, she sprawled out on a matching rug. “Free feline #shavedhead #photography #matthewpaul,” she wrote.
Stodden exclusively told Us Weekly in May that she and her husband, Doug Hutchison, were expecting their first child together. Last month, the couple announced the heartbreaking news that they had lost the baby.
“Courtney and her husband, Doug, are at an emotional loss for words and are using this time to grieve with their close family and friends,” Stodden’s rep told Us in a statement July 17. “Please respect their privacy as the couple try to cope with losing their precious baby and seek the support they both need.”
Stodden married the Lost actor, who is 34 years her senior, in 2011 when she was just 16. They briefly split in 2013 before reconciling in 2014.
