Ex-Intern Alleges Fling With Letterman

A former intern claims she also had a secret fling with David Letterman.
"I was madly in love with him at the time," Holly Hester told TMZ.com. "I would have married him. He was hilarious."
The NYU alum told TMZ that the relationship started in the early '90s when Letterman, now 62, called and asked her on a date to the movies. It ended after a year because of their age difference, she said. A rep for Letterman has not commented on the report.

Meanwhile, New York's Daily News is also reporting that Letterman kept a secret bedroom above his set in the Ed Sullivan Theater in midtown Manhattan.
An ex-Late Show staffer told the Daily News that staffers referred to the room as "the bunker" and it was open only to his favorite young female employees.

On Thursday, Letterman shocked fans by announcing on his late night show that he had been the target of a $2 million sexual extortion plot. He revealed that he had had sexual affairs with female staff members. Police have arrested Robert "Joe" Halderman, 51, for the alleged blackmail. Halderman also reportedly was dating Stephanie Birkitt, 34, one of Letterman's former flings.
In March, Letterman married longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko. They have a son, Harry, 5.

Letterman is just another a_shole. Dating his wife for over 20 years and then just marrying her this year. All the while having affair after affair behind her back. I think she should walk away from this marriage, take the baby and get a good lawyer. There is lots of money $$ to be had here.

There is nothing wrong with a single man asking a girl on a date and obiviously these relationships last a reasonable amount of time. Non of them is saying he forced them. So the news needs to give it a rest. they seem to respect him
Blackmailing is a crime and Letterman is a victim of that crime. John Travolta was being blackmailed, too. Some else said this first but how is Letterman supposed to find dates? Go to a bar? EHarmony? He must have had an understanding with his girlfriend, now wife, that they weren't monogamous. Mel Gibson dumped his wife and seven kids for his knocked up mistress. Letterman has never claimed to be "holier than thou" and he is an entertainer not an elected politician. I like Dave!

Dave Letterman is bitter, old, left-wing and it's time for him to go. If he where a conservative Republican praising Sarah Palin instead criticizing her most of you would stand by him like you people did with Sen. David Vitter and Sen.John Ensign when they (family values conservatives) had their affairs and cheated on their wives. It seems like the right-wings moral monopoly is only usefull for pointing out only when liberals have sexual improprieties and lets the right wing sexual improprieties with the exception of gay improprieties (Larry Craig, Mark Foley) go under the table. BTW Letterman doesn't claim to be a holier-than-thou personality like David Vitter, Mark Sanford and John Ensign claim to be.
The reason people are making a big deal out of this story is because he is abusing his status in a supervisor's position. He is ripe for a sexual harassment suit. At the very least, he's a hypocrite for making fun of the sexual exploits of others when he is doing the same thing, or worse.
Most businesses have codes of conduct that prohibit any relationship between a supervisor and a subordinate (issues of sexual harrassment, abuse of power can happen). Even if consensual it creates a hostile working enviroment for the rest of the staff.
Money is POWER! Who has the money here? The interns wanted nice things - am sure that these wealthy men treated them with gifts, etc. It happens - Bob Barker, Michael Douglas, John Edwards, that NY governor that got caught with the call girl, Bill Clinton, many of the sports men, etc. Unfortunately - it's still a man's world.
