Demi Lovato Is ‘Taking a Break From Music and the Spotlight’ in 2017: ‘I Am Not Meant for This Business’

Time for a time-out. Demi Lovato announced on Twitter Tuesday, October 4, that she’s taking a break from the biz in 2017. Her tweet comes after she made headlines for her honest interview with Glamour magazine, in which she bashed Taylor Swift once again.

In her November 2016 cover story with Glamour, Lovato candidly addressed her previous comments about how Swift brands herself as a feminist.

“I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand,” the singer said. “To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”

Shortly after her quotes hit the internet, Swift’s fans lashed out at Lovato for skinny-shaming.

“She body shamed everyone who isn’t curvy and she shouldn’t do that end of discussion,” one person tweeted at the singer, while another added: “There are plenty of better ways to say you would like more rep for different body types than ‘they dont have normal bodies.'”

Lovato then replied that there are more important things going on in the world that deserve attention.

“I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me,” she tweeted earlier on Tuesday. “Also don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say. … I don’t understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y’all watch the news? Don’t y’all got s–t to worry about?”
