You can do it, girl! Demi Lovato gave a super sexy performance of her new hit, “Cool for the Summer,” at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, Aug. 30. And while she looked pumped on the outdoor Pepsi Stage in downtown Los Angeles, it turns out the 23-year-old needed to give herself a little bit of a motivational talk before hitting the live stage.
In audio from her mic, which was picked up and played over the live stream, the former child star can be heard chanting to herself, “Listen, I am enough … I am enough.”

The mental health advocate has been open about her struggles with an eating disorder, and has been sharing positive messages about loving herself recently.
In July, she posted a sexy photo of her curves to Instagram and captioned the image, “lurrrrrvveee yerrrrr currrrrvveees I actually used to hate them… But then a special someone helped me learn how to love them.” The “special someone”? Her longtime love, Wilmer Valderrama.
“With Wilmer and I and our relationship, he’s extremely supportive in everything that I do,” Lovato told Us Weekly exclusively last month. “He makes me feel confident and beautiful.”
Also a sign of her new self-confidence? Her new musical direction, as illustrated by her upcoming album, Confident. “I think my new music is definitely grown up,” Lovato told Us. “My music is definitely a lot more confident, sexier, and it’s pretty much moving in that direction and embracing who I am as a woman.”
