Did Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump Win the First Presidential Debate?

Who came out on top? Many online snap polls have named Hillary Clinton the winner of the first presidential debate on Monday, September 26, while several others have painted Donald Trump as the victor.

According to a snap poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, Clinton, 68, won the debate by a 50–41 margin. An earlier poll from CNN reported that the Democratic nominee won the debate by a wider 62–27 margin. However, New York magazine reports that Republicans felt as though Trump, 70, won by a 69–20 margin and white people believe that the ex–Celebrity Apprentice host won by a 47–45 margin.

Time.com ran a poll in which more than 1.3 million voters participated shortly after the debate on Monday. According to the site’s unscientific assessment, Clinton won by four percentage points — 52 percent to 48 percent.

However, the site cautioned participants that their poll was not indicative of who will most likely take over the Oval Office after November’s election: “[The poll] is not statistically representative of likely voters and are not predictive of the debate outcome will effect the election.”

Trump took to Twitter Tuesday morning, September 27, to share images of several sites — such as Syracuse.com, Heavy, Patch and Breitbart, among others — with polls in which he was deemed the winner of this year’s first presidential debate. “Such a great honor. Final debate polls are in – and the MOVEMENT wins!” the real estate tycoon wrote. “#AmericaFirst #MAGA #ImWithYou.”

Despite Trump’s boasting on social media, several focus groups of undecided voters thought Clinton emerged victorious.

CBS News reports that Republican Frank Luntz conducted a focus group of undecided voters in Pennsylvania. Sixteen said Hillary Clinton won; five picked Trump. According to a Florida focus group organized by CNN, 18 of 20 undecided voters picked Clinton as the winner.
