"Shortly after 12:30 p.m. today, Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) was arrested at UCLA’s Acosta Athletic Training Complex on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, which was a kettlebell," the UCPD told Us in its statement. "No one was seriously injured and UCPD is investigating."

According to TMZ, which first broke the story, the "Coming Home" hitmaker was on campus to watch his son Justin Combs (a defensive back with the team) practice. The site reported that an assistant coach screamed at Justin — who joined the NCAA Division I team as a defensive back in 2012 — prompting his famous father's wrath.

Diddy later allegedly confronted the Bruins assistant coach in his office, and that's when things got physical. Campus police eventually arrived at the spot to arrest Diddy for assault, and took him into custody.

A kettlebell is a weighted exercise tool comprised of cast iron. Police told the Us that the rapper is expected to be taken to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department Inmate Reception Center on Monday night.

A Diddy source, meanwhile, told TMZ that the mogul attempted to call police during the altercation, but his phone was nabbed at the time.

The team's head coach, Jim Mora, also released a separate statement regarding the incident. "I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," the former NFL head coach told Us in his statement. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."

Diddy's arrest comes one day after he played a father vs. son football game with Justin on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21.
