Disney’s Halloweentown Is a Real Place You Can Visit This Fall!

Will the Cromwells be there? Halloweentown is arguably one of the most beloved Disney Channel original movies of all time, so it’s only right that the spooky town is setting up shop for visitors this Halloween.

Halloweentown fans can head to St. Helens, Oregon — where the eponymous 1998 movie was filmed — this month for the annual Spirit of Halloweentown festival. The event began as a local tradition years ago, but has since become an annual celebration in honor of the classic children’s movie, which follows a young girl who learns she’s a witch.

This year, actress Kimberly J. Brown (who played protagonist Marnie Piper in the film) is scheduled to attend the festival, according to her Instagram.

“Hard to believe it’s already a month until I’m hosting the @spiritofhallloweentown festivities in St. Helens, Oregon, where the 1st #Halloweentown was filmed,” she captioned a post last month. “Come join us October 8-9 for photos, a costume contest, and lighting the pumpkin in the town square!”

Movie Pilot reported that St. Helens (which is 40 minutes away from Portland) set up an exact replica of the Halloweentown set, allowing visitors to take pictures, go on tours, participate in fun-filled festivities and show off their ghostly costumes every weekend in the month of October.

Other events at this year’s Spirit of Halloweentown festival include a masquerade ball, haunted tractor rides, a scarecrow contest, a séance and, of course, the iconic pumpkin lighting event.

Halloweentown first aired on the Disney Channel in October 1998. Three sequels — Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High and Return to Halloweentown — later aired in 2001, 2004 and 2006, respectively.
