"It is truly an unfortunate situation, however, my client could no longer stand by while his rights are trampled," Sterling’s lawyer Bobby Samini said in a statement.

The filing comes four months after a judge ruled Donald’s mistress, V. Stiviano, had to pay Shelly $2.6 million after the businessman secretly bought V. Stiviano a house, a Ferrari, and other gifts with his and Shelly’s money.

As basketball fans are well aware, Donald is suing his wife and the NBA for $2 billion after he was forced to sell the Los Angeles team after audio was leaked of him making racially offensive remarks.

Shelly sold the team to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer after doctors deemed Donald mentally unstable to handle the business.
