The Real Housewives of New York City star, 51, spoke with Us Weekly exclusively about her friendship with her costar, Jules Wainstein, at DragOn’s fifth annual drag ball, benefitting Gay Men’s Health Crisis, on Saturday, April 30, in NYC.

At the event, Medley opened up about how Wainstein felt slighted by recent comments made by Bethenny Frankel, which took aim at the reality TV newbie’s thin frame.

“I think that has hurt Jules deeply,” the Bravolebrity told Us. “I don’t think it’s any of our business … Unless you want to get deeply involved in someone’s life and be there everyday for her, stay out of it!”

As fans will recall, Frankel, 45, voiced her brutally honest opinion of 35-year-old Wainstein’s slim physique on the April 6 season 8 premiere episode.

“She looks like a really thin girl — like, she looks like there is an issue,” the Skinnygirl mogul, 45, said to the camera after meeting Wainstein for lunch. “I wrote a book called Naturally Thin. This is not naturally thin. It’s the kind of thin that makes people around you uncomfortable. I never had an eating disorder. I had a mother who had an eating disorder, and I’ve been around it, and I understand it.”

On the May 4 episode, Wainstein told Frankel that she did in fact struggle with an eating disorder in her teens and 20s, which was so debilitating that it left her unable to graduate college after seven years of studying.

In turn, a tearful Frankel revealed that she watched her own mother battle an eating disorder and apologized for the insensitive remarks she made about Wainstein’s diet and body.

Asked why she thinks Wainstein decided to confide in Frankel, Medley explained to Us, “Jules is a good person coming from a good place and she’s chosen honesty,” adding, “I adore Bethenny. I don’t think she’s doing anything with malintent.”

For her part, Medley has decided to stay out of Wainstein and Frankel’s weighty matters.

“I don’t get involved. I let people come to me. If they want to talk to me about it, I’ll be there for them. I just don’t think it’s my business,” she explained. “It’s not my place to speculate. I think it’s just a sensitive situation.”

Instead, Medley is focusing on all the fun she’s been having with RHONY’s most recent addition both onscreen and off.

“Jules is fun, she’s honest. I got sick about two weeks ago and I said that I had a cold,” the Manhattanite recounted. “She sent me literally 30 things of chicken soup. Matzah ball soup showed up. She must have called me 20 times. She’s aware, she’s sensitive. When she’s your friend, she’s your friend.”

The Real Housewives of New York City airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
