Sometimes, when you least expect it, you're reminded that there is humanity in Hollywood — like right now, for example. Because in addition to being one of rap's hottest names, The Game has created The Robin Hood Project, which involves him donating $1 million of his own money (as in, straight out of his personal bank account) to people in need.
And he's not alone. Touched by Game's latest beneficiary, Drake joined his fellow rapper in giving $22,500 to a woman who could really use it.
Game introduced the woman in need with an Instagram post explaining, "Meet Ana Angel, a mother of 5 who lost her 5 children & her boyfriend (father of her youngest) in a house fire early Sunday morning in Tiffin, Ohio." The caption appeared alongside a family photo featuring Anna, 30, with her boyfriend, surrounded by five beautiful, happy children.
"I can deal with a lot of things but people losing their children is something that kills me every time," Game lamented. "Ana Angel was working her shift at Burger King when she was informed by her manager Pat Boes that her home had burnt down with her family inside it & no one survived."
But he wasn't done yet. In a seemingly honest and heartfelt note, Game continued, "I cannot imagine the feeling she had at that moment & when I 1st read this story yesterday I just happened to be on the phone with DRAKE @champagnepapi & told him about it so he offered to help alongside me…….. So between me & DRAKE on behalf of @TheRobinHoodProject we split a $20,000 donation both donating 10k apiece as well as @51minds (Marrying The Game producers) choppin in with $2,500 so that Ms. Angel can afford the funeral costs for her 5 children & boyfriend as well as a point A to B vehicle."
Drake also posted the family picture on his Instagram, adding, "What @thedocumentary is doing will never be forgotten. Honored to be able to help people along side my brother."
Game began his quest to give away the astronomical sum last week in Australia after meeting an African child who had faced countless hardships. The star was so touched by the boy's story that he gave him all the money he was carrying, which was an Australian $20 bill.
He followed that random act of kindness up by giving $10,000 to the family of 6-year-old Tiana Ricks — who was shot and killed by two men in her family home — to cover her funeral costs.
But these encounters sparked something in the rapper, who then vowed to give away $1 million by Christmas. "Don't even know if that's possible but I've set my heart on trying!!!" he shared. Whether that's possible or not, it's pretty much impossible to not be touched by the effort.
