John Forsythe, the actor who starred on Dynasty and lent his voice to the title character of Charlie's Angels, died Thursday. He was 92.

He passed away in Santa Ynez, Calif., from complications of pneumonia, following a yearlong battle with cancer, his publicist told the Associated Press.

"He died as he lived his life... with dignity and grace, after a year-long struggle with cancer," his family said in a statement.

Although Forsythe had a long career in theater and film, his most famous part was as patriarch Blake Carrington in the soap opera, Dynasty, which aired from 1981 to 1989. He won two Golden Globes for the role.

Says Dynasty co-star Heather Locklear, "John was a gentleman in every sense of the word. He was a gifted actor who knew the true meaning of being gracious and kind. He will be missed."
