Flip or Flop’s Christina El Moussa took her children to visit Santa Claus just days before it was revealed that she and her husband, Tarek El Moussa, were separated.
Orange County California resident Christina shared a cute pic of their kids, Taylor, 6, and son Brayden, 15 months, sitting on Santa’s lap Saturday, December 10. She captioned the Instagram pic with a heart, tree and St. Nick emojis.
It was recently revealed that Christina and Tarek — who wed in May 2009 — quietly split earlier this year after seven years of marriage following a volatile fight.
The exes released a statement about the matter to Us Weekly Monday. “Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage. We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago, and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution,” the HGTV stars said. “There was no violence and no charges were filed. We chose to get counseling to sort out our relationship. Together, we have decided to separate while we reevaluate the future of our marriage. During this process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be.”

As previously reported, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department told Us that an eyewitness saw Tarek “run out of his back door, jump over his back fence and walk northbound into the hiking trails of the Chino Hills State Park” at the time of the incident May 23. Christina’s friend told police that she saw Tarek grab a gun beforehand and that authorities responded to a “possibly suicidal male with a gun” at the scene.
Despite the breakup, the pair told Us that they plan to continue working professionally together. They joined the HGTV family in April 2013 and Christina continues to post photos of the two on social media.
Earlier this month, Christina promoted a new episode of the series. In October, she joked about Tarek blocking her view while posing with the show’s crew. “Love these boys,” she wrote. “bestcrew @pietownprodtv @hgtv #StillThinkTheLadyShouldHaveBeenUpFront #fliporflop.”
