One big happy family! George Clooney‘s mom, Nina Clooney, and his fiancée Amal Alamuddin‘s mom, Baria Alamuddin, have become fast friends ahead of their son and daughter’s upcoming wedding.
The moms of the engaged couple were spotted laughing and walking with their arms around one another as they shopped near George’s estate in Lake Como, Italy, on July 6, browsing an arrangement of silk scarves.
Baria donned a fun, blue feathered visor while Nina kept it casual in a pink button-down shirt. Amal’s mom, who resides in London, has been spending time recently in Lake Como with her daughter and Clooney ahead of their fall nuptials.
Baria caught up with the soon-to-be newlyweds for dinner after Clooney took his lady love on a romantic tour of Downton Abbey‘s Highclere Castle in Hampshire on May 27; she then spent the weekend at the 53-year-old Oscar winner’s home in Lake Como the weekend of June 20.
Nina and Baria also joined the lovebirds for dinner following their shopping adventure on July 6, arriving at the restaurant via boat taxi.
When the actor first proposed to the human rights lawyer back in April, Nina, a former beauty queen, gushed to the Daily Mail saying she was “extremely happy” about her son’s engagement. “Amal’s a lovely girl, I like her very much,” she added.
Amal’s parents were equally as ecstatic and can’t wait for the couple to say “I do.” A source tells Us Weekly they “are old-fashioned when it comes to these things” and “they expect a short engagement.”
