George Michael Gets Early Release From Jail
George Michael is enjoying the sweet taste of freedom.
The singer, 47, was released from jail Monday after serving almost four weeks of an eight week jail term for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana, the Associated Press reports.
Thrown in the slammer Sept. 14 after driving his Range Rover through the storefront of a photo shop in London July 4, the Wham! singer admitted he had smoked marijuana and had taken a sedative. He pleaded guilty to the charge soon after the accident.
"I just want to start again," the AP quotes Michael as saying upon his release from jail Monday.
A judge has ordered Michael to spend the remainder of his sentence on parole and pay about $2,000 in fines. He has lost his driver's license for five years.
