Two weeks before DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) was found dead of an apparent overdose at age 36 on Aug. 28, he and Wood, 22, his girlfriend of nearly a year, split, according to multiple outlets. Sources also tell Usthe two had called it quits.
But in an exclusive statement to Usmagazine.com, Wood says: "Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting. We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much."
For more details on DJ AM's tragic death, including how surviving a tragic 2008 jet crash led him to relapse and how ex fiance Nicole Richie is coping with his death, pick up the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands Wednesday.
