Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin Finalize Divorce More Than Two Years After Consciously Uncoupling

Consciously uncoupled for good! Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin finalized their divorce Thursday, July 14, more than two years after they pulled the plug on their 12-year marriage, a Los Angeles public information officer confirmed to Us Weekly.

As previously reported, the pair reached a divorce settlement in May. The Academy Award winner, 43, and the Coldplay frontman, 39 — they tied the knot in 2003 and filed for divorce in December 2015 after calling it quits in 2014 — both agreed to forfeit their rights to spousal support.

The parents of Apple, 12, and Moses, 10, also entered into a written agreement outlining the logistics of child support and dividing their property.

In March 2014, Paltrow revealed why she and Martin decided to part ways in a post titled “Conscious Uncoupling” on her website, Goop.

"We have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate," she wrote. "We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been."

True to their word, the two have maintained a friendly relationship for the sake of their children.

“It’s like we are still a family, but not a couple,” the Avengers actress told Marie Claire Australia in April, according to the Mirror. “I think we are better as friends than we were [married]. We are very close and supportive of one another.”

Since their breakup, both parties have moved on romantically. Martin dated Jennifer Lawrence on and off throughout 2015 and was linked to actress Annabelle Wallis last August. Paltrow has been dating producer Brad Falchuk since August 2014.
