Halle Berry "in Good Spirits" After Split

Halle Berry hasn't exactly gone into hiding after her split from beau Gabriel Aubry.
Instead, the radiant, newly-single actress took Manhattan for theater, a charity event and lunch with a gal pal.
On Friday, she caught a performance of the Broadway play Fences, starring fellow Oscar-winner Denzel Washington.

The next morning, the 43-year-old hit Times Square in a sweat suit -- alongside Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba -- to co-host the 13th annual Entertainment Industry Foundation's Revlon Walk/Run for Women event for breast cancer.
Next? She had a cheeseburger and iced tea with a girlfriend during a two-hour lunch at midtown Manhattan eatery Rue 57. "She was in good spirits," an observer tells UsMagazine.com.

Early Saturday morning, French-Canadian model Aubry confirmed that he and Berry had decided to separate after five years together. "She is, and will forever be one of the most special and beautiful people that I have ever known," he said in a statement.
Berry, 43 and Aubry, 34, have a two-year old daughter, Nahla. "Her happiness and well-being are the most important thing for both of us," Aubry noted.

Although the couple never wed, the Oscar-winning actress had been married and divorced two times: to baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997, and to musician Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005.

Shila, Oh my goodness. What world are you living in. In the ideal world man and woman would meet, fall in love, get married, and then have children. Sorry sweety, but that's just not how things are. A woman does not HAVE to be married to raise a happy child. As a matter of fact a child from a single parent household can be just as happy as anyone else. You think that marriage is a cure-all. PLEASE!! There are so many people that are married and miserable. Some stay together "for the sake of the kids." Children can tell when there is no love in a relationship and I hate to tell you but most people don't get married thinking they'll be divorced. But it happens. Halle Berry didn't have to get married before she had her child. She has a child that she loves very much and will always be there for. She can experience that unconditional love that unfortunately is not guaranteed with marriage but it is with parenthood. It's 2010 baby, not 1920.
I am not surprised though disappointed. He never seem committed to the relationship in the pictures they take together. She was always leaning into him and he just stands there and look blank or bored. Best to end it now, than later when a good man will be a little harder to find. Halle, you are gorgeous, still young, looks younger, have a great kid, terrific career. You are doing great. Adopt a sibling for Nahla and get on with your life.

that isn't neccessarily true a certain legendary oscar winner would have had her first child about 5 months after her wedding 2nd 14 months later 3rd 43 months later and 4th 86 months later and stayed married 50+ years Halle just isn't the marriage type and the Oscar Curse doesn't help very few marriages where the wife won an academy award actually last a long time other than The one mentioned above w/o the names another example would be Eva Marie Saint & Jeffery Hayden married october 28th 1951 son Darrell Born April 1st 1955 two days after Eva Marie won the best supporting actress Oscar for On The Waterfront and Daughter Laurette born July 19th 1958 and their parents are still married now nearly 59 years later and age difference doesn't matter either Hayden and Saint are about 2 years appart and Newman & Woodward were 5 years 1 month and about 12 hours appart
It's outrageous how many people don't take children seriously. They meet up and immediately have a kid. Then 2 yrs later it turns out (surprise) they weren't meant for each other...SO irresponsible! Then these kids always grow up in broken families, without proper role models, ever-changing new boyfriends or girlfriends of their parents. Few have the courage and guts to actually work on relationships. SAD
No one is surprised. This woman can't hold down a relationship. Perhaps this is a publicity stunt on her part because she hasn't been in a spotlight for a long time because you know it's all about her !

LOL at this story! Just like I expected. I was surprised that they even stayed together for as long as they did! It's funny because so many idiotic females got mad when people were disappointed that she had a baby out of WED LOCK! They were saying, you don't need to be married to raise a child but in reality, you do. When are people going to learn that the key to having a successful relationship with a child involved is to have a consistent, positive relationship for a few years, then get married, wait a couple of years to test out the marriage, and then have a child! No one is saying that any female will be a bad mother if she isn't married to the man she has a baby with! Itâ??s all about the relationship. WTF did she think that having a baby with her boyfriend was okay? Of course there are people whoâ??ve done the same thing and are now married, but unfortunately now-a-days, thatâ??s very unlikely. Now she's split up, heartbroken, and the baby is going to have to go through this divorce and will be introduced to other men. It has nothing to do with being judgmental, just having common sense. The baby will be taken care of financially, and we donâ??t know Gabriel Aubry personally, but it seems like heâ??s going to be there physically, but that has to be one of the hardest things to deal with; not having the man you made a baby with right there by your side as your significant other!

That is very odd. I was flipping through an old issue of Us Weekly this afternoon and I saw a picture of Gabriel, Halle and Nahla and I thought "They are such a good, responsible couple. I hope they last." To me this is very disappointing because they were never married, yet they have a two-year-old daughter. I am sick and tired of women in their forties having babies with their boyfriends! But still, I am wishing both well, and I hope they are doing what is best for Nahla because Gabriel, Halle and Nahla are all beautiful people!

Wow, Kate, for someone who very likely doesn't know Halle Berry personally, your comments certainly sound like you do. Many factors were more than likely the cause of this breakup. It's unfair to point all the blame at Halle. Wishing she and her daughter well.
