High School Musical is 10! And the stars of the hit TV movie are reuniting for a 10th anniversary tribute.
Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman have all gathered together to share memories of their time working on the hit franchise for a special anniversary telecast of the movie on the Disney Channel on Wednesday, January 20, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
And while High School Musical hunk Zac Efron couldn't attend the pretaped group get-together due to promotional commitments for his new movie Dirty Grandpa, the 28-year-old actor has recorded his nostalgic moments separately, to be included in the broadcast too.
"Seeing the cast of High School Musical back together again reaffirms what made it special 10 years ago," Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement to Us Weekly. "It's their optimism, their dedication and their extraordinary talent — as a group — that made this such an exceptional movie and cultural phenomenon."
The Disney movie, which premiered on January 26, 2006, instantly became the highest rated telecast on the Disney Channel. The stars of the movie have remained close friends over the years.
In addition to the anniversary screening on Wednesday, the movie and its sequel, High School Musical 2, will be shown again on Thursday, January 21, and Sunday, January 24.
