More like hate at first sight!
Iggy Azalea may be a gushing bride-to-be now, but she wasn’t always so smitten. The Australian rapper, 25, confessed to the Daily Telegraph that her fairy tale relationship with fiancé Nick Young actually began as a nightmare.
“I hated him,” the “Fancy” superstar joked to the Australian newspaper. “I thought he was an arsehole.”
The not-so-sweet meeting occurred in 2008 when Azalea showed up to a pool party and quickly realized that all the male guests were, well, jerks. “I came with all my friends, and I got in a taxi and left early because I felt like these guys are just arsehole basketball [players],” she recalled.
A few years later, a friend of the “Fancy” impresario introduced her to Young, 30, after the Lakers star tweeted about his crush on her. “He was like, ‘You’ve got to go on a date with him! He’s a great guy!’ I thought he was pretty handsome, so I went on a date with him.”
The pair hit it off immediately. Eight months into their relationship, however, Azalea only then realized that Young had also been at the infamous pool party.
She quickly forgave him, though. “When I figured it out, I think I was already in love with him,” she says. “So it worked out!”
Young eventually made up for the incident big time when he proposed to Azalea on June 1 of this year with a $500,000, 8-carat yellow diamond ring. The rapper has kept quiet about the specifics of her upcoming nuptials, but she did recently tell a Twitter follower, “It will just be between Nick and I, we don’t plan on sharing our wedding details.”
