She's in it for the long haul. As rumors of divorce made rounds on Monday, Aug. 3, Jada Pinkett Smith shed more insight about her high-profile marriage to Will Smith — ups and downs included — in the August 2015 issue of American Way magazine.

The Magic Mike XXL actress, 43, who's been married to the Independence Day actor for 17 years, has dealt with her fair share of chatter regarding their often-controversial relationship. Pinkett Smith told American Airlines' inflight magazine that she and her husband are accustomed to the rumors. In fact, they weather it together.

"Every year there’s a new one," she said of the rampant speculation — the latest claims that she and her husband have finalized their divorce. "And I’m like, ‘Here we go. Get ready. Are ya holdin’ on tight?'"

The mom to Jaden, 17, and Willow, 14, confessed that a union isn't always sunshine and rainbows. "Marriages go through shifts," she told the mag. "And relationships go through shifts because in life, things shift. So people are automatically like, ‘What’s going on? They must be getting a divorce.’ Well, no. But when people feel those shifts and there’s a mystery, they have to fill it with something."

Despite the constant talk surrounding her family, Pinkett Smith said she's unfazed. The actress relived her youth, which included poverty and in one traumatizing memory, having two guns pointed at her face. "If you really want to know," she told the mag, "I’m thankful for the Hollywood scrutiny, that that’s my problem."

In fact, the rumors and all are nothing compared to what other parents and families face daily. "There are mothers out there losing their sons, their husbands, their daughters," she said. "I’m blessed. So scrutinize me. I’ll take that any day over what the majority of my people are dealing with on a daily basis. I dare not complain. Hollywood scrutiny has nothing on what I’ve survived just to be here."

In a separate interview with Howard Stern this past June, the Gotham star said she knows her husband and what he stands for. "Here's what I trust: The man that Will is… is a man of integrity. He's got all the freedom in the world," she dished on the SiriusXM radio show. "As long as Will can look himself the mirror and be okay? I'm good."

And she's assured. "When you can look in your man's eyes and know that he's holding you down and that he loves you," she mused, "here's what's real: I'm not the kind of woman that believes a man is not going to be attracted to another woman."

Her husband was equally up-front about his marriage while speaking with Us Weekly this past February. "Jada and I have struggled with that a little bit," he told Us. "You'll realize that you're either really committed to having a relationship, or you're really committed to coming up. At some point one or the other is going to have to suffer."
