Innovator extraordinaire James Franco just reinvented the Ice Bucket Challenge as the Pantsless Ice Bucket Challenge.

The actor, 36, got in on the fundraising fun on Monday, Aug. 18, completing the widespread Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money and awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis through the ALS Association.

Franco was challenged to dump a bucket of ice and water on his head by his friend and Spring Breakers costar Selena Gomez, who had her own icy fun this past weekend. Wearing a white T-shirt reading "James Franco," a drenched Gomez, 22, nominated models Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse and Franco, "because my shirt says James Franco."

Standing in a shower in a grey T-shirt reading "Moby Dick," Franco yelled, "Ice Bucket Challenge!"

"Thanks Selena Gomez for nominating me," he said in the video posted via Instagram, before a bucket of ice water was dumped on his head.

The camera filming Franco then panned wide, offering an unexpected view of the actor, who was standing without pants or underwear in the shower. Franco is seen dancing and wiggling with just a yellow piece of paper covering his crotch.

"I nominate Keegan Allen, Zach Braff, and Joey King!" he exclaimed as he started cracking up.
