One year in! Just one month after celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about what they love about each other, their holiday plans and how they’re “training” for a baby!

Although the couple have spent the majority of their time since their October 2015 wedding on different coasts for work, Chung has found a silver lining in the distance. “It forces you to communicate more and really appreciate the time that you do have together,” she told Us on November 16 at the launch party for G.H. Mumm Champagne in New York City.

“I think collectively we’ve spent about … two or three months together total this past year,” Greenberg, 38, added. Joked Chung, 33: “So it’s been super easy.”

As for the next step in their relationship, the two are not looking to rush into having kids and are enjoying taking things slow. “We have a lot of friends’ kids to play with, so I think it’s fun to do that for the time being … visit a baby and then give the child back,” Chung said.

Not to mention that they already have their hands full with a dog! “We have a puppy, and it’s a lot of responsibility,” the One Tree Hill star revealed. Added Chung: “It’s a good baby-in-training.” However, their friends with babies disagree. “They’re like, ‘It’s not the same!’” said the actress, adding, “It’s a start for us. It’s a step in the right direction.”

For now, the two are happy doting on their pup and each other. Greenberg gushed about his wife, telling Us, “It’s inspiring to watch [Jamie] thrive in so many different aspects, whether it be she just decided to create a blog on a whim and it’s been so successful, or any role she throws herself into. [She] makes life a lot more fun.” Feeling the love, Chung chimed in, “He grounds me. He calms me. He’s the most patient person that I know. It’s admirable to have that much patience and understanding, so it’s something that I try to aspire to be.”

With the holidays just around the corner, the two are planning to relax in Southeast Asia over their winter break. Greenberg revealed, “We shot a movie in Hong Kong, and we were working the whole time. We wanted to go back for a couple days and enjoy that and just put out any responsibilities. Then we’re just going to travel around from there.”
