Britney Spears isn't afraid to put herself out there for the sake of romance.

In a new, joint chat with ELLE mag, the X Factor judge, 30, and her fiance and former manager Jason Trawick reveal that it was Spears' bold actions that initially helped them take their friendship to the next level.

"It was kind of one of those things where she moved, like, turned around, so we were face-to-face and then . . . ," Trawick, 39, dishes.

In an effort to stop her love from sharing too much, Spears interjects. "Okay, that's enough information, sweetie," she says. "It was sweet, just say that."

The "Til the World Ends" singer, mom to Sean Preston, 6, and Jayden James, 5 (with ex-husband Kevin Federline) and Trawick got engaged in December 2011, but have yet to set a wedding date -- and multiple sources tell Us Weekly it's because Spears is having second thoughts.

The pair were set to tie the knot in Hawaii over the summer, although Spears "complained she was too busy" with her new X Factor duties, a source tells Us.

Now, Trawick is trying to sell her on the idea of a December celebration, but "She won't even set a date," a second source reveals. "She's dragging her feet."

The reason? She "sometimes feels Jason's more of a mentor than a husband," an insider says. (In April, Trawick was named a co-conservator, along with Spears' father, Jamie Spears, over the singer's personal affairs).

The twice-wed singer (she was married to pal Jason Alexander for 55 hours in 2004) is also puzzled about how to properly fete a third marriage. "She doesn't know what a third wedding looks like," a pal explains. "Anything lavish would be embarrassing."
