Ouch! Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek snapped his Achilles tendon Wednesday while chasing after a female burglar who pocketed several items from his San Francisco hotel room.

Trebek, who was in Mountain View, Calif. to host the National Geographic World Championship at Google, said the burglar entered his room at 2:30 a.m. and stole cash and a bracelet from his mother, among other items. The woman, identified as Lucinda Moyers, then hid the stolen property near an ice machine on Trebek's floor.

"My Achilles tendon ruptured and I fell in an ignominious heap to the carpeting, bruising my other leg in the process," Trebek, 71, explained to local news station ABC7.

Moyers, 56, was arrested by San Francisco Police and charged with felony burglary and receiving stolen property. Everything except the money and bracelet were recovered. After his Friday surgery, Trebek is expected to be in a cast for six weeks.
