You’ve got a fan in Jerry. Corey Feldman’s Stand By Me costar Jerry O’Connell offered him a congratulations via Twitter on Friday, September 16, for the former Goonies star’s viral Today show performance. Watch the moment everyone’s talking about in the clip above!
“Proud of you @Corey_Feldman,” O’Connell, 42, tweeted following Feldman’s much-panned performance of his new single, “Go 4 It.” The pair costarred in the 1986 flick about a writer reflecting on his childhood after the death of a friend, alongside Will Wheaton and River Phoenix.
Feldman, 45, also took to Twitter to acknowledge the polarizing reactions he’s gotten from fans. “OH WELL! I GUESS THE ANGELS N I DID R JOBS #GO4IT,” he tweeted, along with a link to a number of articles about his performance, which also featured Doc Ice standing in for collaborator Snoop Dogg.
On Friday, the former child star made headlines after he and four women dressed as angels took to the stage to perform the new single from his decade-in-the-making album, Angelic 2 the Core.
“The whole theme of the album is good versus evil, heaven versus hell, that sort of thing,” he said to explain his own dark and mysterious ensemble, which featured dark skinny jeans, a black hoodie pulled over his head and heavy boots.
Asked why his backup singers and band were dressed as angels, Feldman explained, “I know that angels have probably saved me once or twice in my life. And I like helping them as well. That’s why I created Corey’s Angels,” he said, referring to his heavenly entourage. “It was a way to help girls who were kind of lost and needed to find their way to get their opportunities, their dreams and make them realities. And that’s what we do.”
