A Friday night appearance by the cast of MTV's Jersey Shore caused major melee at a nightclub in Montclair, NJ, the Associated Press reports.

With the hopes of meeting the reality stars, about 2000 fans crushed the 501 Lounge -- which has a capacity of only 800. In the ensuing chaos, four people were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and drunk driving, and the cops eventually shut down the street outside the nightclub for two hours.

No word on how Snooki, The Situation and the rest of the cast fared during the crazy evening.
Thursday's season one finale (and a drama-filled reunion special) of the series scored an astounding 4.8 million views.

TMZ claims that the cast is in currently playing hardball with MTV to negotiate their per-episode salaries for season two. The website cites anonymous sources as saying that the housemates have yet to respond to the network's alleged new offer of $10,000 a show. (Some cast members of The Hills, by comparison, make over $100,000 an episode.)

Who do we have to write or call so this crap stops flooding the TV waves? It's pathetic, unreal, boring and worthless. On top of it, they've been turned into celebrities. Hello!? This is an insult to all those well-educated and qualified actors. It's shameless. I've never watched one single episode, and, judging by comments and pics from these people, I never will.
They ceratinly should not be comparing themsleves to the Hills. and Italians this is not a true depication of "Italians" this is a disgrace, the show should be put off the air it is totally offensive!
I whole heartedly agree with floridachic36. It is an absolute disgrace that a immoral show that promotes reckless promiscuity, drinking to the point of possible physical injury if not death, total disrespect of women, and last but not least the continuous physical altercations that could and should land these idiots in jail. Ronnie should consider himself extremely luckly that he did not impose brain injury or death to the guy that he beat in head over and over even after the guy was down not to mention his skull hitting the concrete extremely hard. I realize that this drunk started the fight but if you are an adult you learn to walk away. That is what makes you a responsible and civilized human. If this guy had been injured more severely, Ronnie would be charged with assault and unfortunately if this drunken young man had died then we are talking involuntary manslaughter. i.e. PRISON!!!!!!!! I also fault MTV for producing and allowing this type of behaviour to continue and influence our young just for the sake of the dollar. It really is a true testament as to what our country has become. And then we wonder about the epidemic of unwed mothers, abandoned babies, no father figures, and drug abuse rising continuously. Apparently, we have forgotten that these complete imbeciles will eventually be running our declining moralistic country.
Their parents should be ever so proud! NOT! What a discrace and a true testament as to what our world has become. A bunch of young adults with no inkling of what real life is and with no remorse as to their actions and how they will come back and haunt them with they get older. What an embaressment, BUT ONLY IN AMERICA do we entertain such garbage!

I think that the meteoric success of Jersey Shore has gotten a little out of control and they should have done their appearance at a bigger venue than that club in New Jersey. That club in Montclair was too small to handle that crowd. When you've got 2000 people crowding a place that seats 800, you've got a problem--all those people have seen that show. I don't get it with why the cast is demanding more money. They're very new a show--why try to negotiate for more? They're acting as if this show's a 22-episode fall to spring season instead of the 8 shows they recently did. Come on, you're not THAT famous! You're not a sitcom or drama! You're a reality show and those people don't make as much as the actors on the networks. They need to not go over their heads so much with more money because of the show's increasing viewership in those few shows. Give it some time, maybe 2 or 3 seasons and then ask MTV for more money.
Season 2? This is awesome news! Jersey Shore is definitely a guilty pleasure for me and I can't wait to see the gang get up to some more shananigans in a few months! :)
I am from the jersey shore-born and raised. These people are not from the jersey shore but NY. Seaside Heights to locals is called Sleazside for a good reason. Their behavior is not the way people from Bay Head and Mantaloking act. Local people don't go to Seaside it for the bennies and white trash! Look up Bay Head NJ and u will see we are not Snookis and The Situation

Pure italian descent trash... They are so proud of being italians.. (not born). They are italian descent, but none of them speak italian or have ever been in Italy. Their lingo is awful, clothes are straigh trash.. and they are so unactractive.

They should hold out for more money. I don't have cable but have seen them on Jimmy Kimmel and those 1/2 hour entertainment. I work in sales and commissions have been cut, or trimmed "becuse we're not doing as well as past years". I am all for anyone making as much money as possible. No matter what you have to do. I don't begrudge these kids their fame, nor appearance fees...don't get jerked around. There are plenty of regular people getting hosed by their bosses so kids, do it for us!! Stick it to the 'man'!!
