Sweet, sweet Jane! Jimmy Kimmel apparently has received some heat for naming his 15-month-old daughter Jane. The late-night host joked about the normal name choice during a recent interview. (Some unique baby names include North, Apple, Saint Lazslo, Pilot, River, and Royal!)
“So many, I guess, famous people name their kids crazy things that everyone acts like I’ve accomplished something by giving her a normal name,” Kimmel, 47, said.
Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, welcomed their first child together in July 2014. The comedian is already dad to son Kevin, 21, and daughter Katie, 23, from a previous marriage.
Another Molly — Molly Ringwald — also chose a somewhat normal name for her 12-year-old daughter, Mathilda. (The former ’80s child star, 47, and her husband, Panio Gianopoulos, are also parents to twins Roman and Adele, 6.) The mother-daughter duo will appear in the upcoming movie Jem and the Holograms. Along the way, Ringwald gave Mathilda advice on set.
“It’s very daunting to direct your almost-teenage daughter,” Ringwald said on the Today show on Oct. 19. She laughed: “I think it’s the only time she’s ever listened to me!”
