WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend 32 years after her 1983 death. According to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office in Allentown, Pa., Snuka, 72, was arraigned in Lehigh County Central Booking on Sept. 1 in connection with his ex Nancy Argentino’s death. The wrestler, who posted $100,000 bail, has been charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.

According to Lehigh County, Pa., police, Snuka allegedly attacked a then 23-year-old Argentino in a motel in Allentown, Penn., in May 1983. Argentino’s autopsy report, cited in the release from the DA, reveals that she suffered multiple cuts on her entire body and that she died of traumatic brain injuries consistent with "a moving head striking a stationary object." The autopsy notes that the cuts and bruises on her head, ear, chin, arms, hands, back, buttocks, legs, and feet were a possible sign of “mate abuse.”

According to the release, Snuka gave various accounts of events, first telling medical personnel after an unconscious Argentino was taken to the hospital that they were arguing and that he “struck her and that she fell and hit her head.” He also reportedly claimed that they were “fooling around” outside the hotel room when he pushed her and she fell, and that they “must have wrestled a little too much,” and also that they stopped on the highway to go to the bathroom and were “clowning around” when she fell and hit her head on the concrete.

The release further notes that Snuka allegedly assaulted Argentino in a hotel room in Syracuse, N.Y., four months prior to her death. In his autobiography, noted by the DA, Snuka wrote that “in 1983, my personal life started getting a little crazy” and admitted to frequently drinking alcohol and using steroids and cocaine.

Snuka was arrested after the investigation was re-opened following pressure from Argentino’s family, TMZ reports. Earlier this month, Snuka’s wife, Carole, revealed that the wrestling pro is battling stomach cancer.
