Scandal makes Papa Pope tired! While visiting Us Weekly Video, Joe Morton confessed that he actually dozed off while filming a scene for the Shonda Rhimes–created drama.
“I had no dialogue and I fell asleep,” Morton, who plays the villainous Eli Pope on the hit ABC series, said.
Morton, 68, whose powerful and cunning character is the father of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), explained that he drifted off not because he was bored on set, but because he was tired from a vigorous work schedule.
“At the end of last season or so, I was still a guest star on the show and I’d gotten another series, called Proof on TNT,” he told Us. “We were filming the pilot, and that meant I was flying to Vancouver, doing Proof, and flying back to L.A.”
