Oh, hell! Former Speaker of the House John Boehner revealed that he will vote for GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, because he doesn’t like Trump’s opponent Ted Cruz. The Ohio Republican shared his contempt for Cruz at Stanford University on Wednesday, April 27.
“Lucifer in the flesh,” Boehner, 66, said of the Texas senator (according to the Stanford Daily). “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”
This isn’t Boehner’s first time likening Cruz to the devil. He also used the name Lucifer to describe his fellow party member during a Q&A last month at a conference in Boca Raton, Florida.
Conversely, Boehner praised real estate mogul Trump on Wednesday, and said they’ve been golfing buddies for years. In fact, Boehner said they are “texting buddies.” He also had kind words for John Kasich, who in the last week has formed a close alliance with Cruz.
Boehner also directed his attention to the Democratic party’s current contenders for the White House: Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The former speaker, who was known for his many emotional moments on stage, apparently did an impression of Clinton, saying: “Oh, I’m a woman. Vote for me.” Despite the mockery, he later noted Clinton’s many accomplishments throughout her political career.
Boehner’s remarks were made hours after Cruz announced on Wednesday at an Indianapolis rally that he would name Carly Fiorina his running mate if he receives the Republican party’s nomination. The convention will be held this July.
