John Mayer Bonds with Gerard Butler: We're Both "Branded Womanizers"

John Mayer and Gerard Butler: soul mates?
During an interview with Details magazine (in its December issue) conducted at L.A.'s star hangout Chateau Marmont, Mayer, 32, encounters Butler at a nearby table and strikes up a private 20 minute conversation. Butler had been briefly linked to Mayer's ex-girlfriends Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.

When the Details writer asks about the chat, Mayer says, "We talked about New York . . .We're in a bit of the same position of being branded womanizers."
Mayer then opens up a tad about the famous women he's dated, suggesting that the heart wants what it wants:

"You just never know who's going to come into your life," he says. "To my mind, the only thing sicker than saying, 'Wow, you're a famous person and it would do a lot for my career to go out with you,' is to say, 'Wow, you're a famous person and I like you and all, but I can't do that to my career.' I don't think either of those is a good option."
The profile also details the musician's myriad collections: watches, guitars, cars, Leica cameras, even women's leather bags. Explains Mayer: "I have the obsessiveness of someone who's a sober, recovering addict displacing his addiction . . . Except I never had the addiction." He adds self-consciously: "I've never done anything because I thought it would look cool."

The quirky crooner also acknowledges his many, many detractors and extends a provocative invitation:
"What if I had a booth on the street and I said, 'Attention, everybody who hates me: If you have a problem with me, I'm ready to hear your gripes! ....I will only be speaking to people who do not like me. Come out and let me have it. I will not speak back.'

Mayer says he's dubious than any of the haters would actually show their faces.
"How many people do you think would be standing there? I'm talking about people getting the chance to tell me directly, 'I think you're a douchebag.' You know how many people would do it? Ze-ro."

It must truly feel claustrophophic for anyone of their "stature." No money in the world can buy freedom of the heart. When you can sail your own ship, the sea is all yours. Jennifer was annoyed because he broke the golden rule in Hollywood : DO NOT TALK ABOUT OTHER CELEBRITIES. That is why they â??broke upâ??. They had to end the contract and write a new one. That is why she was flew to New York (under the public pretense of seeing a Turner exhibit) to get him to sign a new contract which stipulated that he would say NOTHING about her and was silent. Even Mayerâ??s HIDDEN SECRET girlfriend at that time, Scheana Marie, didnâ??t know what was going on and she was annoyed. There is even an x17 video of Mayer and Scheana arguing about Aniston because he cant legally tell her!!!!!!!!! . As you know he is a conceited, heartless, immature self promoting blabbermouthâ?¦.. â?¦Jen in reality couldnâ??t stand him. It was all a convenient act. That is why at the Oscars, she abandoned him apart from when it was time for pictures, then she posed, ACTING extra affectionate. Ask people who went, THEY KNOW. Mayer would leave his car there so the photographers would invent a story, but he would secretly sneak out in the back floors of cars/limos covered up with a blanket. IT WAS ALL A PUBLICITY STUNT. We obviously don't get the whole/real stories when we read about people we don't actually know. But, if I were to get to know someone and discovered they sucked, I have NO problem telling them so. I don't have the patience or time to deal with BS. = )

Revelation: John Mayer is not in the same class as Gerard Butler. One is a Mayer, the other a Butler. One is a Womanizer because he wants to be the other is an "Om"anizer because he was born to be. If any of you haters showed up, he wouldn't have to say a thing because you don't deserve to be spoken to...you're a Hater.
Here's the thing: If someone is a "branded womanizer," then any woman who does not want to be another "notch" should stay out of his way. But Mayer's relationship with Aniston disproves the theory that he just tosses women aside; the two were together for a bit, and she seems to bear him no ill will. I am beginning to think that the guy knows himself really well, lets that be known to whoever he becomes involved with, and then the course of events unfolds depending on life-stage compatability, values, and trust, just like non-celeb romantic relationships.
