John Mayer, he’s just like us. The “Half of My Heart” singer had the most hilarious reaction after finally catching the first episode of the emotional series This Is Us over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
“Just saw the first episode of ‘This Is Us’ and I’m hooked,” the 39-year-old singer tweeted on Friday, November 25. “Cryin’ and hooked. Not even wiping away tears of the next episodes. Just gonna let the first ones create tracks for a more even, efficient flow.”
Mayer’s funny reaction caught the eye of fellow singer Mandy Moore, who has a starring role on the show, and the songstress couldn’t help engaging in a little back-and-forth.
“Glad you’re digging it, @JohnMayer,” she wrote, retweeting the “Daughters” crooner’s thoughts.
“Beyond dig, @TheMandyMoore,” Mayer wrote back, clearly still reeling from the feelings-filled show. “I’m about to attempt one of the most emotionally reckless stunts ever: watching an episode ON AN AIRPLANE.”
The NBC series also stars Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley and Gilmore Girls alum Milo Ventimiglia.
On the Tuesday, November 22, episode of This Is Us, a number of story line surprises gave fans all the more reason to have a sobfest over Thanksgiving dinner, including the breakup of #goals couple Kate (Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan).
In a heartbreaking speech, Kate told Toby, “I told you that when I met you, that I couldn’t fall for a fat person.”
His response? “But you did. You fell for me. So now what? Are you gonna just throw me away?”
This Is Us airs on NBC Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
