Jon Gosselin Reveals He and Kate Met With Dr. Phil

On Tuesday's ABC special Primetime: Family Secrets, the father of eight, 32, says estranged wife Kate, 34, would only agree to one kind of therapy: With celebrity Dr. Phil.
"I was very hesitant," Jon says. "I was like, 'What the heck is this?'"

Jon says the session with Dr. Phil was more about fixing the image of their hit TLC show than their broken marriage.
"We talked about the brand and corporate things and making the brand work," he says. "I felt it was weird. I was like, 'Why am I here? I could be snowboarding.' It wasn't helping."

In a statement to ABC News, Dr. Phil said, "I respect the Gosselins' privacy, I have no comment on their marriage."
Jon previously admitted in the Primetime interview that Kate refused to go to any other kind of therapy to make their marriage work.
"I have a $22,000 therapy bill," he says. "I mean, I tried to have marriage counseling. I did it myself. She refused to go."

383Every time I watch the show I always think it's Kate plus 9. Jon is like her oldest child. I don't blame her for being bossy. He always seemed more interested in having fun than taking care of their kids. Now, he's acting like a spoiled child. If he can't be on the show, he doesn't want Kate or kids to be on it either. He really needs to grow up.
Kate is a major b*tch, shes a horrible mother and doesnt deserve those poor kids. I would cheat on her too if I were Jon.

Jon has disrespected Kate on numerous occasions. More than Kate had "mistreated" him. I believe she has always been more "real" than he has. But a person's true nature is revealed when there is a crisis such as divorce. Depending upon what follows next, everyone will know who was doing what prior. Kate always stepped it up & Jon always had to be led. It gets old parenting your husband. I know I would prefer to be with a man who loves & respects me by showing it. And he showed how much he respects her by rolling his eyes, telling her she dresses dumpy on national tv, saying she has no fashion sense, etc. Who has complained about that? He's pissed because she was the one who did everything and he sat back & enjoyed the perks. Now his gravytrain has left the building. He will burn through his money very quickly if they pull the plug on the show and he doesn't have the means to support his new lifestyle. Kate is already thinking about what to do if the show is over. Jon is too busy worrying about where to stick his little dickeydoo to think ahead that far, as usual.

The reason why jon and kate broke up is because jon is the youngest child in the family and the only reason why she behaved so bossy is because he was not stepping up and doing his job like a man should and that is quite frustrating at times and this then makes her look miserable. Jon you need to grow up, stop whining and apologise to your wife Kate, because surely you will one day realise the mistake you had made hopefully before its too late. And people should leave Kate alone because until you have walked in her shoes, who are you to judge her, thumbs up Kate on the wonderful work you are doing with your kids, they are the ones that matter.
I agree with yall. Also, in time I think after jon lets go of his youth (he was always saying Im only (insert age). I wanted to say SO WHAT, you have a wife and 8 kids now, grow up. Reminds me of my ex when he said I have too much responsbility, I dont want it. I think this is not the time to decide you dont want responsbility after 8 kids and 10 years of marriage. No one ever has a perfect situation, you just give the situation you have the best you got and committ to it. Anyway, he will regret this big time one day after he gets his wild oats sewed and finally realizes what was "out there" is not as good as what he had at home, especially when those kids get older. Can you imagine him trying to party and date 20s something year olds when he has 8 teenagers!

JMP, Great comments. No one really knows what Jon & Kate's home life was really like. I do think you have a pretty good idea of what was probably happening. Jon seems to be showing his true colors now. I think Kate is calming down because she is no longer living with the stresses of her marriage. I only have one child; imagine being a mother of six babies all at once and two four year olds. The mom has the brunt of the responsibility no matter how 'helpful' dad is. At first I didn't like Kate, but like one other poster said, what the viewer knows is based on how the producers edited the show. Do we really know the truth?
And also in the end the truth will prevail. If kate is still okay and jon is still whining, then we will know who told the truth. To me its obvious. Jon is partying and kate is being a mom...duh ralph, of course jon is immature.
What it boils down to for the show is this; drama. I show does not sell without drama, and thus we always saw the parts where Kate was losing her temper. I thought about this cause I was in a marriage with 3 kids and a cheating husband, before he cheated, he was selfish. I got to thinking what if someone had filmed our home, they probably would have shown the times I blew up at him, because there were well meaning people that saw that part of our marriage and always blamed me, but they didnt see what led up to it. His constant picking on me (john rolled his eyes at kate all the time), his constant put downs when no one heard or saw, his refusal to act like a man and not be told what to do, his constant wanting to be babied above the kids which is super frustrating when you have tiny children. I mean Im all for meeting each others needs, but you cant drop a screaming infant cause your husband wants a foot rub. John reminds me so much of my ex. He always appeared to be the "marytr" but no one knew what was really going on in the home and then when he got caught cheating, he started making up stuff about me that had a bit of truth to it, like she yelled at me a lot, but he conveniently forgot to tell why I yelled and what brought me to such frustration levels I had to explode. If he was a man like he says he is, he would have manned up to kate if she was so rude to him and said this has to change. Instead he used what the camara protrayed to tell people she abused me, this is why Im doing this. He did what he did CAUSE HE WANTED TO..it was his choice.

We really don't know the truth about this couple. The Jon & Kate reality show is edited in such a way to get a specific reactions from the viewers. Maybe Kate is nasty and Jon is lazy. How many times does Kate have to ask for help before Jon finally responds. We don't see that on the show. If any woman can get through the 6 babies and 2 toddlers stage and live to tell it; she's pretty amazing. I don't know how I would handle things if I was Kate. But, I do know I would get really angry if I had to ask someone to change a burnt out light bulb ten times before he finally changed it. And than I want to know why he can't change the bulb without be asked in the first place. I feel bad for the children. Both Jon and Kate should be silent about their relationship for the sake of the children.
