Justin Timberlake Gushes Over Fatherhood, Son Silas: ‘It’s Humbling’

He can’t stop the feeling! Justin Timberlake opened up about fatherhood and his 18-month-old son, Silas, who he shares with wife Jessica Biel, during a new interview on the Today show Tuesday, October 11.

“It changes everything,” the “Mirrors” singer, 35, told Willie Geist. “You literally just wake up and look in the mirror and go, ‘I have no idea what I’m doing.'”

In fact, Timberlake says Silas was one of his biggest reasons he wrote his most recent hit, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” which was released earlier this summer as the lead single from the Trolls movie soundtrack.

“I don’t know that [the song] was directly inspired to be something that my son could listen to of mine, because there’s a lot of music he can’t listen to of mine — at least not yet,” the entertainer quipped.

As for life as a first-time parent with Biel, who he married in October 2012? “It’s crazy, this new appreciation for both of them [Silas and Jessica]. … It’s humiliating and it’s humbling at the same time.”

In between family time, Timberlake has been working with Academy Award–winning director Jonathan Demme on his new concert film, Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids, which chronicles the final two shows in 2015 of his megasuccessful global trek, The 20/20 Experience World Tour, in Las Vegas.

“This isn’t hiding behind a character, so to speak,” the singer said on Today of the nerves he felt while premiering the film at the Toronto Film Festival last month. “It’s just that moment of, like, ‘Wait, other people are going to see this.’ There is something a little more personal about the way that Jonathan captured us. I feel really proud that the people that I shared the stage with, that they’re so important to me, and they’re every bit the star of this movie.”

Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids debts on Netflix Wednesday, October 12. Trolls hits theaters Friday, November 4.
