On His Proposal
“He actually started a little fight with me and threw me off. I was like ‘Oh my God, things aren’t great. He surprised me at the end of the night…[when] he popped the ring out. It was amazing,” Cuoco told Entertainment Tonight in September 2013. “From day one I just knew immediately and it’s been magic. We have all the same family friends. We grew up with the same people, we just never met.”

On Their Quick Engagement
“I kind of feel that I’ve known him my whole life. I know that it seems a little crazy on paper, but it’s what works for us,” Cuoco told ET in September 2013 of their three-month romance, following the engagement. She added to Ellen DeGeneres that November: “By Day 2, it was so unbelievable, I said, ‘This is it.’ I know it looks a little crazy to some people.”

On Their Wedding
Cuoco and the tennis pro said “I do” at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Southern California on New Year’s Eve 2013. “Greatest night of my entire life 🙂 @ryansweething. Last night I married my sweetheart life couldn’t be sweeter,” Cuoco captioned an Instagram pic of the newlyweds at the time. Sweeting also noted that it was the “best night in history.”

On Being Supportive
Days after tying the knot, Cuoco thanked Sweeting while accepting the award for Favorite Comedic TV Actress at the People’s Choice Awards on Jan. 8, 2014. “This is the second best thing that’s happened to me this year. The first was marrying you, baby,” Cuoco said. “I love you.”

On Newlywed Life
“It’s amazing. You love it. It’s honestly — it hasn’t been much different for us. Just our whole outlook on life I guess is a lot more positive. We couldn’t be happier. It’s the best moment of our lives,” he told Us Weekly in January 2014. “…I still haven’t left from our blind date. So it’s still going. Now I’m thinking as a husband rather than just as a boyfriend. It’s making life a lot easier. I know what to do, and I definitely just do whatever makes her happy. That’s pretty much it.”

On Starting a Family
“We do want to have kids, but I’m a little — I lost this dog in the backyard so many times that I’m afraid I need to practice on not losing her so I don’t actually lose my child,” the 8 Simple Rules alum told Ellen DeGeneres in September 2014.

On Home Life
“He knows he doesn’t know how to cook. He admits it — he’s not good at it. That’s not his thing,” Cuoco told Us in January 2015. “I love it too because he’ll be training and I get home before him and I’m able to make dinner for him and he’s exhausted. And I don’t know, it feels old fashioned! And for me, for someone who’s so not, who’s so modern and has a career, I love being able to have that life at home too.”

On Being Confident in Their Relationship
“I’m such a fast moving person. Everything I do is fast. I make quick decisions, I don’t wait around,” the Wedding Ringer actress told Us in January 2015. “I knew there was no one else I wanted to be with, no one else I wanted to look at, I knew that I was done in that exact moment. And that’s kind of how I am with everything! I make the decision and I don’t look back.”

On Prior Divorce Rumors
Prior to calling it quits, Cuoco slammed rumors that the pair were having issues. “Today is Easter. It’s about love, gratitude, and rejoicing in all that we have,” she captioned an Instagram pic of Sweeting in April 2015. “I have never been more proud of anyone on this planet — this guy is fighting back from a whirlwind of injuries and not to mention constant ‘conversation’ regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make.”

On Having No Ex Drama
Days before announcing their split, Cuoco gushed about Sweeting’s friendship with her ex, Big Bang Theory costar Johnny Galecki. “Well, we dated like five years ago, so I think we both moved on,” she said of Galecki on Watch What Happens Live on Sept. 20. “He’s one of my dearest friends. Ryan loves him. Johnny loves him. It’s been a long time, so it’s great. I got lucky! That could have been horrible.”
